- Jeff Vacek, Your Ego
I’m on this tangent right now about ego.
Not really sure why, its just showing up for me right now.
Egos are useless.
They literally have no real world value.
And a business based on your ego and looking good won’t last… its fake and everyone DOES take notice after awhile.
Your business should be built around authenticity, gratitude, wanting to help others in a powerful way and so on… You know… All the cool shit that REAL people REALLY care about.
If your business exists just to ‘make you money’, buy you crap and make you look good then when you retire, you’ll be bored and have a lot of regrets. And you’ll probably be ‘broke’ and applying at Wal-Mart.
Okay, maybe that’s a little harsh but…
The finer things in life are NOT expensive cars, planes, boats and $500 steak dinners in my opinion.
The way I see it, some of the finer things in life are:
- Your kids and having YOU in their life
- Philanthropy and actually doing something for someone else that doesn’t necessarily involve you just giving money
- NO regrets
- Leaving a legacy
I’m not saying don’t have nice cars, boats, etc. Its totally fine to have those things.
What I’m saying is don’t let them be your symbols of success and don’t let them define who you are AND more importantly… Don’t let them define your legacy.
Sure, success is in the eyes of the beholder.
But what do you want your tombstone to read…
1) Here lies [YOUR NAME] who bought a lot of stuff and made a lot of money.
2) Here lies [YOUR NAME] who helped a lot of people, left a positive legacy and will be forever remembered for the positive impact he/she had on the world.
Thanks for reading!
